Jane's Story

Look how far I've come!

I went through domestic, physical and financial abuse. I found it very hard to get help. I was going round in circles still stuck suffering. I knew I needed to leave but didn’t know how. I began taking an item from my home now and again and leaving them across the road at a friend’s house. I did this for two years. Nothing was missed by my partner as I did it so slowly.

Then one day I had a call from a friend I hadn’t spoken to for such a long time. She knew from my voice something wasn’t right! I explained what was happening. She arranged to travel to my home and pick me up. She lives in the location I am now in. She allowed me to stop with her and I slept on her sofa. I was introduced to Project 58 in Manby through Citizen’s Advice.

On visiting, I received such a very warm welcome and felt so relaxed and safe. Even though I was battling with anxiety, I felt it was the right thing to move in. My accommodation is beautiful, and I have made it my new home! My support workers are with me on my journey every day and are helping me work through the past and encouraging me to focus on my future, which at times, is hard. They are all so amazing and work so very hard for all of us here.

We have lots of activities we can take part in and some of us are now leading activities. We help each other out but most importantly, have so much fun and laugh a lot. We are one big happy family here.I have completed an Alpha course and have started praying and going to church. I am so very proud and thankful for the life I have now. I can honestly say, I often think WOW!! Look how far I have come to be my stronger, determined self!

To everyone that reads my story, I praise and thank God from the bottom of my heart. I am where I am today because of him and the ladies that have supported me.
