Bethel Homeless Ministry is on a mission to eradicate homelessness in the City of Birmingham because ‘Homeless Lives Matter’. Our charity represents ‘Love in Action It is essential that all human beings, regardless of their age, gender, race, culture, sexuality, nationality and/or reasoning why they are living on the streets in the City of Birmingham, were given the opportunity at a chance of LIFE not DEATH. We at Bethel Homeless Ministry ensures all our tenants are supported and empowered. We support these individuals by providing the right support they require when considering their basic needs, health, welfare and wellbeing, allow these and for those individuals to locate lost family members or bridge the gap between them. The purpose of supporting and empowering our tenants is to enable them to reach a level of self-actualisation that causes them to become self-sufficient, independent, and be in a position to contribute back to society.
We have day time and rough sleepers ministry teams who help in a variety of ways. We supply practically through food and essential items, give first aid, guidance, advise on entitlements and prayer. We also help to connect them with family, pay for emergency housing and refer them to specialist support services. Our first Green Pastures House is pending.
We show charity, love, compassion and kindness to each individual. These individuals already feel embarrassed, alone and a outcast from society. It is not our job to discriminate, mock or even judge them; but to treat them with respect, value them and give them a sense of hope that someone actually cares as suppose to ignoring the issue without any prior knowledge of the individual.
We will be providing opportunities for supportive living. We are aiming to house between 3-4 individuals in each property. All properties will come fully furnished and with the essential tools needed to take those steps to become independent.
