Nottingham Arimathea Trust is a small housing charity with a clear mission to support destitute asylum seekers, newly recognised refugees and modern slavery/trafficking victims. Arimathea was born in 2007 when there was an overwhelming need to house asylum seekers whose cases have been refused. It was initially set up by the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham of the Church of England where a house was allocated to the Trust from surplus housing stock. Fast forward more than a decade later and Arimathea now has 20 properties housing around 70 residents. ​

(About 70% under 35 and 70% male). We are a very active church, not traditional, and somewhat unconventional, which is necessary to reach into parts of our area which has some of the highest incidents of poverty, and 18 -25 unemployment in the West Midlands and Staffs. We have good relationships with most other churches in the area and they often refer people to us.
