Housing Dilemmas CIC

GP Bed Spaces

Moved on into
independent living

Housing Dilemmas was set up to help people who face the threat of losing their homes or have already become homeless. We provide a range of services to our service-users including negotiating realistic payments with landlords and mortgage providers; providing support in claiming Welfare Benefits; providing support through court processes; and liaising with councils, charities, churches and national and local bodies on behalf of our clients. We provide housing for 4 residents currently in partnership with Green Pastures where we offer all these services and more. Whilst we are not limited to providing services to any one ethnic group, we do endeavour to provide support to low-income Black and Minority Ethnic households.

Achieved to Date

We currently have a 4-bed property in Chelmsford where we are providing housing to our residents alongside the services mentioned above. We have seen great progress in our residents so far and are excited to see what the future holds for them, and our organisation as a whole.

Why We do this

We have a vision of a country free from homelessness, where everyone can find accommodation and maintain tenancies to enable their wellbeing. We recognise that there is a huge issue in the UK with homelessness. Last year, more than 400 people died whilst homeless with the youngest aged just 18. In the UK today, more than 300,000 people are either homeless or living in inadequate homes. BAME households have seen a particularly rapid increase in the risk of homelessness - households being recognised as homeless in BAME communities are rising by as much as four times higher than other groups. This is what motivates us to do more and to provide the highest level of service to our clients as possible!

Future Plans

We can't wait to continue to grow and be able to provide more homes for more individuals affected by homelessness. We aim to see the end of homelessness in our country!

green pastures review

It’s been an honor and a privilege to work with Sybil and Bow in setting up this first property and getting an offer accepted a few months later on their second property. Within 6 months of starting their first property we are already looking at a 3rd property as the demand in Chelmsford is very high. What the Housing Dilemmas team offer here is unique supported accommodation which has the potential to have a huge impact on Chelmsford as a whole. Working together in partnership, we have a vision of ending homelessness in Chelmsford and I believe this is very much feasible through the power of the Holy Spirit and the hard work and energy of the team. We are so impressed to see the changes that are happening in the resident's lives and the security they now feel to be able to move on with their own lives.
