Housing Dilemmas was set up to help people who face the threat of losing their homes or have already become homeless. We provide a range of services to our service-users including negotiating realistic payments with landlords and mortgage providers; providing support in claiming Welfare Benefits; providing support through court processes; and liaising with councils, charities, churches and national and local bodies on behalf of our clients. We provide housing for 4 residents currently in partnership with Green Pastures where we offer all these services and more. Whilst we are not limited to providing services to any one ethnic group, we do endeavour to provide support to low-income Black and Minority Ethnic households.
We currently have a 4-bed property in Chelmsford where we are providing housing to our residents alongside the services mentioned above. We have seen great progress in our residents so far and are excited to see what the future holds for them, and our organisation as a whole.
We have a vision of a country free from homelessness, where everyone can find accommodation and maintain tenancies to enable their wellbeing. We recognise that there is a huge issue in the UK with homelessness. Last year, more than 400 people died whilst homeless with the youngest aged just 18. In the UK today, more than 300,000 people are either homeless or living in inadequate homes. BAME households have seen a particularly rapid increase in the risk of homelessness - households being recognised as homeless in BAME communities are rising by as much as four times higher than other groups. This is what motivates us to do more and to provide the highest level of service to our clients as possible!
We can't wait to continue to grow and be able to provide more homes for more individuals affected by homelessness. We aim to see the end of homelessness in our country!
