GP Merseyside is a Green Pastures project providing affordable housing connecting residents with support from the local church all over Merseyside. We want to provide as many people as possible with the comfort and security of their own home and will work until homelessness across Merseyside is a thing destined to stay in the past. We believe that God has called us to this work and we won't rest until we have achieved what he has spoken to us!
The GP Merseyside project took its first steps in September 2018 playing a part of ending homelessness across Merseyside. From opening to October 2019 we have housed thirteen people, providing a variety of affordable quality homes where care and support is available through four partnering churches and organisations.
Many people across Merseyside face difficulties finding, affording and sustaining healthy homes. These unresolved difficulties can result in homelessness, unsuitable or temporary accommodation for countless families and individuals. In response Merseyside Housing is partnering with churches and organisations already making a difference in this area. We provide access to quality affordable housing alongside community support that’s enabling a greater impact where housing isn’t just found, but is healthy and sustained.
In the first twelve months we plan to achieve eighteen bed spaces while working with five more more local churches/charities and develop volunteering opportunities. In year two we aim to see this grow to fifty bed spaces with ten plus partnering churches/charities, adding two new staff members and develop our volunteering model. As the model evolves over the next five to ten years, drawing on GP experience, the care and passion of local people to make a difference, together we can reach out towards ending of homelessness across Merseyside.
