Imagine If Trust is a Liverpool based charity, working to bring about transformation through a range of community projects. Our aims are to relieve poverty, promote education and strengthen families. Genesis Housing works to house people from all across Liverpool with various housing needs. We work on a referral basis, having the majority of our clients sent to us through various agencies in the city working with homelessness. We provide the tenants with long term support, including one on one mentoring, personal skills development, employability workshops and volunteering opportunities. Our aim is to enable people to reach their full potential and work with them to avoid homelessness, secure stable accommodation and employment, education or training. We run a 8 hour plus scheme to encourage tenants to engage in a minimum or 8 hours a week of positive activity. This looks different for each individual tenant and can be a variety of meetings, volunteering, training etc..
We have housed 49 tenants to date from various backgrounds with various needs, with over 70% engaging in our engagement scheme. A large percentage of whom were able to move on from homelessness and isolation into their preferred accommodation.
The charity was founded in 2012, bringing a number of well recognised community projects under one banner. The strength of this approach is in the ability to meet an individual's multiple needs without the risk of a breakdown in the referral process. Since then we have grown to incorporate new initiatives in a desire to support people to live their lives to the full both in Liverpool and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Genesis Housing is the name of our supported housing project and works to house people from all across Liverpool with various housing needs. We work on a referral basis, having the majority of our clients sent to us through various agencies in the city working with homelessness. We provide the tenants with long term support, including one on one mentoring, personal skills development, employability workshops and volunteering opportunities. We offer shared accommodation in a three bed female house in L15 (Sozo House) and a four bed male house in L8 (Barrow House). Our properties are ideal for clients who have been in hostels for a while and looking to move on to more independent living.
As we move forward we are looking at the needs of Liverpool as a City and hope to grow. We aim to provide a place of change in Liverpool for people stuck in the cycles of homelessness and addiction, to help them move on in their lives into independence.
