Compass is Hope Church’s project to help people find a way out of homelessness. It is a medium-term supported accommodation project with the aim to provide and enable individuals to learn the necessary skills to solve their own homelessness long term.
We will work with each individual to design a support program, which will help them to gain confidence, skills and solutions. With encouragement and support, we believe Compass will offer a real opportunity for people to make a change to their lives and access permanent long-term housing.
Compass is led by a skilled team of people with a wide range of skills and a real passion to help the broken and dedicated to showing the love of Jesus.
Compass currently has a 4-bed house in Oswestry. We support our residents with daily life and have put a detailed tailor-made support plan in place to maximize their success in finding away out of homelessness.
We have various volunteer projects for our residents to get involved in, from helping the vulnerable with gardening and helping out at horse stables to helping with painting and decorating various different projects.
Compass was set up out of a passion to help the most broken in our community. The church has helped many people over the years, with soup kitchens and supporting people’s physical needs in the community. But we as a church wanted to offer something more. We wanted to provide a home for the broken and through love and relationships see lives transformed in the name of Jesus.
We wanted to help people to find a way out of homelessness by providing direction and guidance, hence the name Compass. We didn’t want to apply plaster to wounds but wanted to see real healing and real change in individuals.
Through the support of our project with the assistance of Green Pastures people can have a place to call home.
Compass is planning on starting an Alpha group with our residents over the next few months. We hope to have lots more volunteer opportunities for our residents and look forward to seeing them move forward in their own personal journey to find a way out of homelessness by the love of Jesus.
